Hi and welcome to iLounge.

Firstly, are you talking about WMV (Windows Media Video) or WMA (Windows Media Audio).

Although you can theoretically convert WMV to MP3, keep in mind that MP3 is an audio format, so you would only be listening to the sound from a video file. There aren't a lot of tools out there to do that (since it's not commonly required), but they do exist.

If you're talking about converting WMA (Audio files) to MP3, then iTunes itself will do this for you as long as they're not protected WMA files. Make sure you've set your default import format in iTunes preferences (Edit->Preferences->Advanced->Importing) and then just import your WMA files into iTunes and it will ask if you want to convert them.

If you want to convert WMV (ie, video) files to a format that will play video on an iPod 5G, then you would need to convert them to MPEG-4 or H.264. There are a few tools that will do this, and I"d recommend checking out our TV & Videos forum (http://forums.ilounge.com/forumdisplay.php?f=91) for some suggestions.
