What it is saying is that the original file the song was in has been moved or removed from where the iTunes library says it found it.
Lots of things could cause it. If you right click on one of these files and do a Get Info, answer No to the locate question and look at the first tab of the Get Info window, you will see the path to where the file originally was located.
You can then use Windows Explorer to see if that path still exists on your system. If it does, look for the music files there. If they are there, then next time you do a Get Info on the file, answer Yes to the locate question and click on the file.
If you can not find the path on your system, you'll need to try to figure out what changed.
Do you have the songs on a removable drive? Turn it on, or hook it up.
Have you been organizing music at the file level? Put the files back or use the Get Info relocate question to alter the paths to their new locations.
Did someone delete the directory where these files existed? Restore your backup of your music.
Is your music collection on a separate hard drive and someone added a CD drive to the system? Alter the drive letter of the CD Drive to a higher letter, alter the drive letter of the second hard drive to the original letter.
And when you were reading the above and said "what backup of my music"
See the iPod 101 tutorial on how to move your library:
http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/tutorials/
Or
You of course need to backup all of the music files. As documented http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302392
To save the playlists, You should export them and back them up: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93763
To save your library, then you should backup the file "iTunes Library.itl" and restore it on the new system. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93313
Podcasts need to be handled a bit differently: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302376

I recently moved all my mp3s from a hard drive to itunes on another drive.
The problem is: eventhough all the songs are in the proper folder Itunes still needs to find the file before it's played. Is there a way for Itunes to find all these songs without asking me to direct each song individually?
Appreciate any help

iTunes doesn't like u to move the songs once u told it where they are. End of discussion. Go through those links cmjnews gave u and maybe the fix is less painful than u think. If the songs are well organized, it shouldn't take u long to reaload them all.
