Can somebody please help me out on saving up for an iPod video? I really want one, and some tips on saving up fast for one could really help me out. Remember I'm only 13 and I'm not employed and I desperately want an iPod video 'cause it's so cool

I got my black 60 gb video from eBay for $360..normally $399 retail. eBay is a great savings just make sure you find iPods that are factory sealed and not refurbished. Also make sure the sellers have good feedback.

There are a few ways:

1. Get a job. Offer lawnmowing services to your neighbors. Babysit. Get a paper route.

2. Sell stuff you currently own.

3. Rob someone, or steal the money. Better yet, just bypass the money part and steal an iPod.

4. Become a bounty hunter (of course, this corresponds to #1 above - a job). Check out the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list. Most of the people on that list have hefty rewards for the capture of or information leading to their capture. I see they're offering $25 million for Osama bin Laden.

5. Start an illegal pyramid scheme.

6. Run a gambling operation among your friends.

Honestly, what other 'quick and easy solutions' were you expecting? If there really was a more legitimate way to make a quick buck really fast aside from #1 and #2 above, I'm sure everyone would be doing it by now.

The bottom line is, you're looking to buy a luxury item that you currently can't afford. Be patient, work hard, and save your money. It's never too early to learn how to do this, because you're going to encounter this all your life. Heck, I want a Ferrari F430 now, but I'm in no position to buy one for a few more years.

Working my ### off like you. I'm 13, i got a paper round and earned the money. Much to the laughter of my school mates who thought it was uncool to earn money and not rob it.

My mom is a janitor. She found one. I searched the guy online and didn't find him. And the fact that he had no videos or playlist of any kind made me feel less guilty of using it.

^ i totally do that. I got $5 a day for lunch all through my last two years of high school, and I can tell you that i never consumed a single meal in my high school's caf. That $20 paid for movies and dates on saturday night, and who needs lunch anyway?

but shh don't tell my parents. I get a grocery budget now since I live in their weekend house and do their shopping for them...but i don't always spend it all;)

^ hey, i did that too. I used my lunch money for CD's and dating. I just ate big breakfasts and dinners, and kept Pop-Tarts in my backpack if needed :)

In addition to paper route, lawnmowing, bagging groceries, etc. I also was an ATM for my family, this was obviously before there were ATMs. I would keep cash hidden in my room and loan money to my family for a fee.

I would also buy candy and fireworks in bulk and resell to kids at school. I would look for CDs and Albums at yard sales and resell to the used record store.

Be creative and you could figure something out.

Well I was 8 or 9 when I got my first iPod (It was a 1G...5GB...I still have it...) but it was for X-mas. But my 5G I bought last october, I had used my own money for. I worked at a fair that comes around every year and a juice stand and made over a hundred. I had already saved enough money from before, through birthdays and such, so I had enough.

Also at your school, see if you can do the score or stats at sporting events. I did it for baseball with a friend and we each got paid $21 dollars a game.

Doing chores or doing small jobs will help a lot to earn money for the iPod. Or maybe your parents could help you a little. I heard that Apple gives discounts to teens who are buying iPods so maybe look into that.

I've been saving three separate times for an iPod. All three times, I've had health scares with my rats (one in particular - Lenore, who passed away from a massive abdominal tumor in April) so I couldn't afford it.

About a week ago, I talked to my mum about how frustrated I was - sometimes it's kind of sucky being responsible. She decided to split the cost of whatever iPod I want with me (I want a refurbished 20gb 4th gen) as long as I'm not too extravagant lol.

So... to make the rest of the money (I need to make $85), I decided to sew quilted purses/totebags. Since they're handsewn (with a machine - which is still considered "hand sewn" because literally handsewing would be insane), I can charge people $25-$45 and they'll still buy them! Mwuahahahah... It's worked on three friends already.

I'm also trying to get a job at a bakery, but as I'm 15, it's not easy.

1/2 of my total money earned will go toward a Rat Fund, so it might take a little while, as well. But they're worth it. Afterall, iPods don't give kisses, now do they?

Well, let's see... I got married 30 odd years ago, raised three daughters, shared my music and danced with them, played the stereo more than the tv. So thirty years latter one of them had the bright idea that dad would enjoy an iPod even though dad had never expressed an interest other than as another technological gadget. So for Christmas 05 the three went together and put a 30gig 5th gen iPod under the tree for me complete with a little family inside joke inscribed on the back. So just invest in good daughters. (BTW... love the iPod, play the hell out of it, one of the best presents I've ever got.)

My very first ipod (3g), my aunt (who passed away last year =\) got for me as a graduation gift; the day before the 4g was announced. -- We went and exchanged it for the 4g without being charged any re-stocking or anything.. god i love the soho store. I still have the 4g somewhere, now engraved with my aunts passing date =\.

Every subsequent iPod/mini/nano, i've bought on my own.. nice paying research jobs and internships have spoiled me.. what will I do when i graduate next semester. =x

the ipod is my first mp3 player

bought it through bestbuy at $299 about a month ago,I was about to originally get the 60 GB but after seeing how much songs I only had put on my itunes(around the 2000-2500 margin,I had Itunes installed before getting my Ipod)I realize just how much extra space I wouldnt really need in the long run so got the 30 GB,I sorta regret it now...I may not that much extra space but the 60GB will provide more battery life in watching videos than the 30 GB,I've been thinking about replacing it,I'm going to wait and see ihow I feel about it when my warranty comes close to expiring if its really that necessarily for an extra $100

I agree with most of the people in here. Work hard and you'll get the money. I don't even have a job or an allowance. I make my money by doing work for neighbors, cutting grass, shovel snow (but of course I have a plower :D). If you already have some money you can go to craigslist or ebay and buy some cheap stuff and resell them. Heck, get the stuff people give away on craigslist and sell them. If you have a hobby, use it to make money. If you're good at arts and crafts for example, you would make frames, necklaces, etc. and sell them on ebay.

Sold stuff on eBay ( have made almost $1000.00, but I am actually losing money on most things because I paid more for them when I bought them, although something that's unused is worthless.)

I will have enough money to buy a iPod 30 GB in two weeks :D and then I will give my Nano to my dad ( I would have sold my 2GB Nano on eBay, but since apple is selling refurbs at almost 50% original price, I wouldn't want to lose that much money.)

My first iPod, a 4G 20GB, bought in September I believe, was bought with mostly borrowed money. One day I decided that my library was too large to conveniently carry around in CD form, so I decided to get my iPod. Within 2 days I'd put together 100USD of my own money, and borrowed 200USD from my bro and a friend :p

Well, now 1 APP and 2 free replacements (dropped and replaced for free, courtesy of Apple), I'm still using that 4th gen 20GB thing, so I suppose it was rather worthit :)

My latest one is a replacement from the Apple Store. My initial 5G iPod (60GB) was the first thing I bought with a few paychecks I saved up from a liquidation outlet. So I got it for $369 CAD.

My iPod shuffle, I got over a year ago before it came out in stores. I ordered online with my Christmas money.

My iPod nano should be coming in the mail soon. I won it from a contest.

I bought my ipod Nano at Car phone Warehouse online. I ordered it in about June, and it said next day delivery, yet It did not come. Finally I was fed up, I went to a char phone warehouse, yet they had no Nano's in stock, and I was furious. So 2 weeks later I went to another of there shops and they gave me a white instead of a black. I was terrified to know that 1 week later the new nano's came in store. ugh.

Its a little late in the season, but when I was a teen I made extra money during the holidays by wrapping gifts. I didnt charge a particular amount, instead I asked for whatever people thought the service was worth. I actually made a fair amount of money this way, one year over $600. It costs a little up front though, I bought the supplies to wrap with and bought an ad in the church newsletter.

Hey! I'm 13 too. How about asking your parents for allowance? if you do, just keep saving. I've been saving for 4 years and I have about US $600, which is a lot to me, considering thats mostly Xmas and Bday money and I only started getting allowance this September. LOL, yellow...I do that! I get allowance money and I don't eat lunch just so I can afford something I really want. Anyways, yeah. Just be good, get your grades up, ask your parents if you can get an iPod if your grades are good. Thats what I did, I worked my ### off and I managed an 86 average and my parents are getting me an iPod for this Christmas.

Good luck!

i saved up, went to the store, and picked one up, i actually looked around quite a bit to find the best price, i did feel a little guilty at first, it is a hefty sum to shell out, but now that i have it, and since i have had my 4th gen for so long now, it seems to have been a sound investment, no pun intended

Long story.
It all started when I decided to sell a guitar and a bass that I had which i didnt use.
I ended up getting about 350 for them (one cost 150 new and the other was randomly sent to me :S)
I called my uncle and I got him to bring me a 20gb 4th generation from the states to avoid the blank media levy in Canada.
That iPod lasted me a year or so until april 2006 when I found The Elder Scrolls: Arena at value village for $3.
I ended up selling that for $160 or so on ebay.
So I sold my 4th generation and bought a white 30gb 5th generation.
After about 8 or 9 months of having it, my baby was taken away from my by a theif.
I went back to my 4th gen (I sold it to my mom B) ) until christmas when i got more money than i would have expected normally.
So I found a 30gb 5.5th generation open box for 259.99 at best buy.
The "open box" turned out to mean the shrink wrap had been removed.
Nothing else was opened.
