So I got my iSkin Exo from the Lajo site a couple of weeks ago.
I really like them. (I live in Europe [switzerland])
Only problem is, today I get a bill from DHL for 32.95!!
Has anyone who lives in Europe gotten extra charges from DHL??
I'd really like to figure out if it happens everywhere in Europe, and why it's so high??
I can understand some duty, but this is ridiculous!!
Can I do anything about this??
Help!
Johnny Utah.
Sounds weird, I mean you already paid the shipping...
Didnt happen to me.

Welcome to the club. We're having the same problem for orders in Canada. We're trying to sort out the issue. I'm trying to get in touch with higher ranking people than simple agents at Customs to know about their fees and inconsistencies. Also, Lajo was supposed to get in touch with DHL and other Canadians and myself will also contact DHL to figure out more about the whole tremendous fees at the end...

Exactly!!
I thought that was the whole point of paying the shipping fee.
Also, I noticed that the DHL form on the package sent from China has a box checked called "dutiable goods".
I think this is done by DHL, but I'm not sure. I also noticed that $18 of it is charges by DHL as "administration". Total BS.
Either way, a $30 product absolutely should not have over 100% in charges. That's outright theft! I'm gonna be on the phone to DHL tomorrow morning.
I hope Lajo changes his carrier if DHL doesn't fix this. This is not acceptable.

I am almost certain DHL screwed it up.
I've shipped lots of things with DHL (including moving!) and they royally screwed it up last time.
And sometimes things would show up and tracking would still say it's somewhere else!
Good luck and hope they shape up!
We will soon be trying HK air mail, we have had some good results with them. Take about 2 days more to arrive

DHL and any other courier service like FedEx, UPS, always charge "Brokerage Fees" on top of duty etc...when you ship out of the country. Apparently these fees include, duty/taxes and also a fee the courier charges the receiver for them filling out the customs paperwork, etc...
I used to have stuff shipped to Canada from the US via UPS, and they would always charge me about an extra $30 in brokerage fees. The only way to avoid this is to ship through the post office services.

Generally if you purchase something from another country you will be charged inport tax and handling fee's on it.
DHL, Fedex and UPS all add extra admin fee's to cover their time in filing the paperwork for customs.
Sometimes a shipment will be let through but usually you will have to pay.
The amount that you pay is based upon the goods that you purchased. Items like plastic cases, silicone, leather all have different fee's attached to them.
We import stuff from many countries and almost always have to pay.
It is usually a little bit cheaper to ship by postal service but you will pretty much always have to pay the Duty on them also.
We always have customers from other countries asking us to mark the items they purchase as a gift or to put a lower value on the customs form to lower the duty that they pay.
Not alot that you can do to get around this, except to try and purchase the items from a reseller in the same country that you are in.
So canadian residents should ask Lajo if he has an offical canadian reseller and purchase through them.
The amount that you pay for shipping just covers the shipping fee's. Your government wants to make money because you are purchasing goods from another country.
Hope this helps.
