i have a 1G nano connected to my pioneer DEHP4500MP head unit with a iconnect rca adapter and i was wondering how to get the nano to run through the head unit...the rca cables only let me control the ipod with the ipod itself, which limits its volume and its ability to play through my subs...do i need a newer head unit or a higher priced adapter? or is there another way?...

So it goes Nano -> RCA -> HU -> Speakers. Why do u say it does not go through your HU? Are u saying even if u turn your iPod AND HU all the way up u still can't get enough volume?

im saying that i want to control my ipod thru the HU....it only lets me control it through the ipod itself....u can crank up the hu full blast and it does nothing. its like the hu doesnt know the ipod is even connected...u can play it when the radio is on or when a cd is playing it doesnt make any difference.

Wait-wait.
Are u ABSOLUTELY sure the HU's RCA jacks are for input, not output? Do us the favor of looking up the manual, and confirm that it's indeed volume-controlled.

u know im sure your right on that...the rca jack on the back of the amp are for the subs...it didnt even occur to me until now....my amp for my subs has a line in jack on it...would i be able to run the iconnect through my amp instead? or would it just run the sound through the subs only?

That.
U need to connect the iPod into your head's AUX input, if it has one.
Hope u didn't fry anything output-to-output BAD.
