right now i have 10GB worth of music on my HDD and 3GB of HDD space left on the computer but later on when i want to upload more songs i will run out of space, i was wondering if there is a way to upload the songs in parts to the ipod to save space on my computer's HDD or would i have to invest in a removable HDD? my computer is not capable of holding 60GB worth of music files, so i am in a tight situation, what are my options? it would be kind of tricky to use itunes because it deletes the artwork on the ipod each time it uploads songs to the ipod and i wouldn't be able to get the artwork back onto the ipod unless i have all the music files in the itunes library, tricky.

You need to manually manage your music. Read this:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93779

and the relevant part of your owners manual that tells you how to proceed with manual update.

hmmm, the only problem with this is when the album art disappears on the ipod, and i can't put the album art back because the previous songs wont be in itunes :S, unless i can update certain songs on the ipod even though i have different music in itunes library?
