I live in NYC so fm isn't an option for me (no available stations) and my car has no tape deck or option for cd changer. I've checked with the manufacturer and there are no jacks in the back of the radio for additional inputs. Is there any way to hook up my ipod to my car stereo (barring of course the itrips, irocks, etc.). Also, my stereo is good enough and I really can't afford upgrading to a new one with a tape deck or cd changer / output, etc. so that's not really an option either (30gb ipod tapped me out)
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, any feedback that gets to a solution will be really greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Umm....you really dont have any options unless you fine external speakers or soemthing. Your only solution seem to be getting a new deck.

I figured that was the case - went through all of the postings and I don't think there's been a solution to this one.
Thanks

it seems to me there are a handful of options that one can use to connect an ipod to a car stereo, yet there are a ton of posts. Makes the forum kind of pointless.
1. Tape adapter
2. FM Modulator (either attached to ipod or hard wired to car)
3. Mini jack on car face plate
4. Auxilary jack on back of radio
5. Overriding the cd changer
Any others?

I think if you get an FM modulator that plugs directly into your antenna port you'd be all set, I haven't personally used one, but it's the standard way of doing a hands free cell phone in cars. Which being the law in NY seems like it would have to work. then you can hardwire the iPod with a charger too. That way you can keep the factory head unit and KEEP IT HIDDEN! The worst thing you can have in NYC is an aftermarket headunit. Or you could just take the subway and use your headphones...

Don't know your financial situation, but a new head uni is your best solution. If you can $wing it, you have an excellent opportunity to upgrade your car system and accomodate your iPod. Just keep thinking: "My entire music collection in my car, my entire music collection in my car...."

The iTrip should work perfect if the radio stations don't come in.

Don't bother with an iTrip or any FM modulator that transmits over the air. They are useless in a major city. Look for a FM modulator that is used for installing satellite radio, dvd players and vcr's on stock systems. When one of these are used, it disconnects the outside arial and transmits directly to the radio. When you turn off the unit, it reconnects the arial. The quality of these are pretty good. Like this:
LINKY (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3060161549&category=14932). This is a good alternative if you don't want to replace your stock head unit, especially for asthetic reasons.
