I have a pioneer KAH P4800R casette player in my 1993 VW Golf (mk3), Im currently using a tape adapter for my ipod but I would prefer a more elegant solution. I currently have a CD changer so presumably I could use that port to connect the ipod. I was wondering if anybody could advise me on a couple of things:
1) Is there a cable/interface/something available which would connect the CD changer socket to me ipod dock connecter and charge and play it through the one plug (i think this must be possible as the CD changer gets power from somewhere)? I want to keep the ipod interface as i plan to mount it within reach so i dont want one of these things which transfers control to the headunit. I would also like something relativly cheap (

PIONEER CD-IB100. uses the cd changer port to connect the ipod. makes the ipod show up as a humongous cd changer.

Thanks for the response, I have heard of the CD-IB100, but can you still control the ipod using its own interface or does it transfer control to the head unit.

Conventionally, it does throw control to the HU, but there is a hack to allow you to do what you want floating around here. It is just a matter of starting up and connecting the unit in a certain sequence if I remember correctly. My advice would be to get a 2006 Pioneer HU that is p6800/P680 or greater in model number so that you can enjoy fullspeed search and scrolling with the ipod adapter. I love mine. Search for my post on CD-IB100II.
