Join Together just wont work

I was trying to join some tracks of an audiobook with join together. however everything goes fine till the script calls quicktime player. it appears to open all files, but in the new file for the joining the tracks it inserts only the last track and exports it directly. afterwards it promts the error "cant get item 2 of {10.534243435}".

one time the script worked, but since then no go, always the same error, tried different files, different locations, converted the files to aac -> nogo.

also rebooting and reinstalling the script hasnt worked.

found a workaround, i have to select join together as app in focus. if quicktime player gets anytime till it has finished opening all files in the foreground join together coudnt finish.
