I asked this question in punksteve's Jeep Wrangler thread, but figured I'd create my own thread to get more input. I am looking for a way to use the ipod interface to scroll and select my music, not the head unit. I have a JVC Model KD-G720 head unit with front-mount USB port. When I plug in the iPod to the USB port on the front, it won't let me use the iPod scroll wheel. Is there a way, with any car stereo, to plug in the iPod and use the scroll wheel to select music? I don't want to have to get an interface adapter and use the head unit to scroll. I had the new Alpine unit and had to return it because I didn't like doing it that way. Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
Lucy

ANY USB interface would likely lock up your iPod that way. Your nest easiest option for the KD-G720 is, use its AUX input.

exactly, go to radio shack buy your self a male to male adapter. plug one end into the part in back of your head unit where you would plug in a cd changer and boom perfect sound and all control of your ipod .

Plug a male/male headphone jack into the back where the cd chnger would go?
Is this correct?

Probably not, as CD changer ports tend to be proprietary because they need to carry command signals, etc. My old Blaupunkt used a $13 cable that turned one of the CD changer ports into an RCA input.

So I should be able to buy a cord that has the CD Changer plug on one end and then either a rca or headphone jack at the other?

Thanks. I decided to dump this stero in favor of an alpine with the IPod hook up. I brought it back yesterday and stated my problems and they hooked me up.
