how can these be cheap...Far out in Australia they're expensive for freaking headphones. I'm not spending $100 on headphones.

Dunno what you're talking about mate. The G52's are more expensive in the UK. I still say they're cheap POS. Did you actually look at the helpful - sometimes I wonder why I bother - AUSSIE site I pointed you to? $59AUS (+ship) for a KSC-55. Cheap, but less POS than the G52.
KSC-55's are MUCH better than the G52...Senn's PX-100 or 200 would also be a consideration here (Don't own those--I do own the KSC-55's and the G52's--the G52's are awful in comparison to the 55's.).

i have to third the ksc-55 endorsement.
sony streetstyles are utter garbage... you'll be throwing away your money.
the ksc-55's are the only behind-neck headphones that are worth considering... and i'd go so far as to say they're the best you can get in that price range. (under $20 in usa).
