Hey guys,

My 3G ipod died a few weeks ago and I'm in need of another one. I can't exatcly afford a $299 brand spankin' new one, so I was thinkin' about getting a Certified Refurbished one direct from Apple.

What are your thoughts on refurbished ipods? Yay/nay?

There was a 4G for $169.99 and then a 5G color for $199.99

Both come with the earbuds, usb cable, and ac adapter.

Thanks in advance!

If you want to have video then it is a no-brainer. if you are like me and the video is not something you want/need, then I would get a large capacity Ipod Photo and enjoy the extra room. I have a 40gb and love it.

Both sound like a good deal. Check directly with an Apple store if you have one as I was able to get a 10% discount for trading in my dead 3G on my 4G photo.

I originally traded for a new 5G...but really did not feel I would need video so i swapped for a refurb 4G / 30gig from the Apple Store in Plano TX. The 4G was $149 MINUS my 10% trade so I got the refurb 4G for $135. Not bad.

well, I think it's dead. It won't charge at all and when I do try to charge it, it gets hot and makes a clicking noise. Will they take a dead one and gimme 10% off or anything like Apple does?
