I've been "demoing" headphones for my shuffle for a couple of weeks. The choices, reviews and opinions are driving me nuts :) So far I have purchase the following:

Sony MDR-EX81: OK, returned and bought 51s, didn't like ear hooks

Sony MDR-EX 51: decent sound quality will keep as backup or sell, lack detail & volume

OEM Sennheiser CX300: purchased on eBay just to see how they stack up against the real deal. Haven't received yet

Creative EP630: very nice but will return at retail store casue I have the fake ones on the way :)

I've had my eye on the Shures for a while. Most reviews are great but a few complain about comfort. When I saw the E2G for 63.99 at buy.com, I couldn't resist. I am really hoping these are "the ones". The 2 yr warranty and cust service rep is a plus.

I may have been happy with the sony's but after I stumbled on this forum, I was off to the races. I ddn't realize this decision would be so agonizing :)

So you have bought 3 sets of headphones pretty much at the same time, and they're all on the way to you (Sennheiser, Creative, and Shure), and you haven't yet listened to 2 of them?

Why would you do that?

You said you have:

Sennheisers on the way
"Fake" Creatives on the way
Shure E2c's on the way

Isn't that 3?

The Sennheisers are the fake creatives that some eBayer is marketing as the same oems used by both.

Ah, OK. That wasn't made clear in the original post.

Even so, why not wait for the Sennheisers to arrive first and deciding whether they're sufficient or not before splurging on a set of Shures that you may not need/want?

I have no patients and I thought the price for the Shures was decent at 63.99 vs 89-99 which is about the average from what I've seen. Also, I already had a taste of the Sennheisers as they are very similar to the Creatives. I prefer the Creatives over the Sonys for detail but I do find them a bit "shrill" I bought the OEM Sennheisers on a whim to review and for my own curiosity. Unfortunately, I didn't do a whole lot of research before the fact & didn't want to settle for mediocre quality.
