I have an iPod Photo and I installed iPod Linux on it. iPod Linux has a function to record memos. Default recording is done by the left earplug. Can recording performance be better by using a microphone? Which specifications are required for using a microphone?
What are the conserning input specification of the iPod Photo?

Well, a Mono microphone with a 1/8" miniplug would in theory work.
