Hi all. I've been using Sony MDR-EX81LP for a few days and I just picked up a pair of Ceative EP-630 today. The Sonys are nice but I'd definately recommend the Creative buds...hands down. Sony gets a very slight edge for bass but the Sony bass has a rep for being too boomy & muddy to begin with. The Creative buds have nice tight bass, way better mids & highs but THE most obvious difference is the Creatives have almost twice the volume. I had the Sonys on 100% volume and still found myself wanting more.

Ditto to that...I've had the Creatives and the Sonys and I have to say that the Creatives blow the Sonys out of the water. Good choice in picking them up. Just so you know, the Creatives will sound amazing after a two week burn-in period. Trust me.

Well...to be fair.... I just received a pair of Sony MDR-EX51 (I've been going a little nutty with headphones) and they are delivering more volume than the 81s...still not as much as the creatives but these aren't half bad and I can't give a clear edge to either...yet. I guess every pair has the potential to blow you away the first time :) Time will tell I guess but with either pair I don't feel the need to spend a whole lot more cash to get quality sound
