These are the best in this price range! The clip used in this product is non-traditional and that should be noted. It is a thick metal wire that is adjustable so you can make it fit your ea and make the clip as tight or loose as you like. The original shape is designed for larger ears, but I was able to make them fit mine perfectly in about 5-10min which drastically improved audio quality.

I think that I am qualified to speak about the audio quality in comparison with other products in this price range having own/ed Sennheiser px200's, px100's, PortaPros, Shure e2c's, MDR-71's, etc. The audio balance is a lot better than on the Px- series of headphones which are for bassheads, overpowering bass. The music is much more balanced with no emphasis on any particular part of the spectrum. The bass on the unit is tight and sounds as expected.

Now on to the build. These are better looking headphones than most in the $100-300 range and have admirable build quality. First of all, the connection chord is better than could be expected. this item is replacable and in most headphones this is the first piece to go. ALthough, I don't think this one is going anywhere for a long time yet. The two mini plugs are gold plated and the chord is covered with woven nylon which makes it very hard to tear and tangle. The chord on the headphones themselves is a thick rubber chord connecting the two sides together and that same kind of rubber covers the earclips and makes for a very consistant look. The style is beautiful with the leather/chrome outer covering. Here is something else that improves the audio: the earpads are not the typical foam, but mini leather circular pads like on the PX200's. This means that there is no foam covering the speakers to soak up the sound and distort clarity. The plastic parts of the headphone are hard and well molded, again, similar plastic to the PX series. The external leather looks like it is padded in the pictures, but it is just raised above the surface. The leather is not premium, but this is not that expensive either.

These do need some burn-in time!!! They sound OK out of the box, but infinately better with some play on them. I reccomend hooking them up to a sound system and let them blow for a few nights on a medium volume. If you want to hera the change yourself, then you are welcome to it - but this will save you some serious time.

I can see why these headphones won the Japan Good Design Award 2005, they look well and perform for the price. I highly reccomend them and wish that these would come state-side soon. I mean, Asia shouldn't get all the good toys? There are not many places that offer these for sale online, and Audiocubes.com is a good company to deal with (not a promo). If you are dissapointed, just take my tips into consideration.

The problems it has out of the box account for the point deducted and the audio is good - not the best. If you want a small and portable solution, this is for you. Also if you break or lose them, they were relatively cheap!

Have a Great Day and enjoy these!
