Etymotic ER 6/6i vs. Audio Technica ATH-CK7

Similar price, what are the pros/cons of each, which would you get? Will mostly be using with an iPod. Also, what would be better between the er 6/6i for ipods?

Many people have the ER6, or have heard of them, so you'll get a lot of recommendations. The CK7 is new and still difficult to find.

May I prefix my remarks by pointing out that I own both, and that the CK7s travel around with me, while the ER6s now sit on my desk, unused except when I need to listen to them to compare them against new phones.

ER6 advantages
The ER6s are in white, which may be an advantage, though I like the metal finish of the titanium CK7s. The ER6s have white cables. The ER6s are easy to find, with good after sales support. The ER6s come with a choice of earpiece types. The ER6s provide EXCELLENT isolation.

CK7 advantages
The CK7s seem more robust. The CK7s have better, richer, warmer sound (the ER6s have a cold, clinical tiring sound). The CK7s are more comfortable and fit better more easily. (When the ER6s don't fit perfectly their sound is horribly tinny). There's not much in it (neither are good for bassheads) but the CK7s have slightly better bass.

Yes, I think so. Perhaps not huge, but certainly noticeable. I wouldn't use the CK7 with my Gen 4 iPod for rock music because it's not bassy enough for my tastes, whereas it is, just about, with the Nano, which gives a bassier sound anyway.

The CK7 has a good, even, well balanced sound, and I daresay a proper audiophile would prefer it, (and it is bassier than the ER6) but most of us like a bit of bass (I'm not talking about the teenagers whose cars shake with it as they drive past, nor with those who turn the balance knob to B 10.....) and the HJE70s do have notable 'punch' in the low end, without being muddy, so I do really prefer them, I think.

yea i had the HJE70s for a week w/my nano and they sounded great! bass was good, but i commute to the core of downtown, i need something more concealable. I also Training and need them to say in my ears (which the HJE70s do but the extension cord, plus the connection to the Ex.Cord is pretty heavy).

I"m guessing the Nano w/the CK7 would be a good pair?

i'm about to make another impluse buy and get them. but its kinda dumb becuase i will be going to asia in 4 months, i know i would probably save like 40$USD off of them.

also to anyone, is warehouse123 a good site to order from?
