Ok well I only bought this 4th gen IPOD and it worked flawlessly for 3 weeks. I had the newest firmware update as well.

So I didnt use it for about a week and when I go to listen to it again, it starts going crazy.

Firstly, it was very slow when navigating through the menu and it lagged. Then when I went to push play, the song would take forever to start playing and when it did start it was gapping, froze, and then when to the main menu. I tried other songs and same thing happend, but this time it completly froze and I could not turn it off.

I then tried to hook it up to my cradle and to itunes to see if I could unfreeze it. Sure enough I unforze it and checked all the songs on the IPOD through Itunes and all was fine. I then go to eject and it would not. It froze again and also froze my comp. I had to pull it out with the screen saying do not disconnect.

I then tried to test it again with headfones and now it did not lag but there would be no song playing, just some randomly loud chirping coming from the headfones. I thought my headfones broke so I decided to connect through the line out in my car. Same thing happend, loud chirping sounds.

What the heck is wrong wit my ipod? I didnt drop it or misuse it at all. I am so frustrated because I just bought it. I only put about 50 songs on it so far. IS my ipod fried? What should I do?

First, welcome and don't let the iPod sit and not charge it doing that time. Restore the iPod.

well I totally forgot that I posted this up. An update. I did restore it and got sound but it still kept on freezing up and skipping in the song and gapping. The harddrive would continuisly try to engage and it would click, if that makes any sense. Well I didnt feel like messing with the thing so I sold it ebay and bought another one in absolute perfect shape, not a scratch on it. So far the new one works flawlessly.
