I just upgraded from a 2g iPOD to a 3g. My battery was really going bad in my 2g... so its hard to gauge how bad my iTRIP drained the battery... i'm wondering how much the iTRIP really puts a dent into the battery.

what is everyone's average battery life when using the iTRIP on their 3g? and what version firmware are you running on?

thanks everyone

I get about 3 hours on my on my 3rd gen 30 gig ipod... without ITRIP I get 7-8 hours.

I trip really takes alot of juice. I looked into getting a AUTO charger and it requires me to buy more accesories.

I agree. Griffin's claim that the amount of battery drain is negligable is a load. At first I thought I wouldn't need a car charger, but the more I use the itrip, the more I'm persuaded to due to not wanting to change songs because it might drain the battery too much on long drives. Normally I get about 7 hours out of the ipod, w/ the itrip I can drive for maybe 2 hours, and only have 1/3 battery showing on the meter.

I didn't mean to scare you away... The reception I get from the itrip is well worth it. I have no problem spending an extra $20 on a car charger (dont need an expensive one b/c you don't need the line out). I now have the flexability to use the ipod on any car i choose, get good reception (better than the best fm stations in my area, which is the San Francisco area)

Yep. Im about 3-4 hrs too. Glad to see its not just me. It EATS the battery life. I have a belkin backup battery pack though, which i carry at all times :) (uses 4 AA batteries) to get me though the day. The reception though, is really good though. I had a belkin fm transmitter and it the reception was reasonable, but the itrip blows it away. The belkin fm receiver also has a ####ty design. Ive gone through 2 waiting for my itrip. The wire just gets so beat up so you have to fuss with it to get any signal.

i'm reverting back to my belkin while i'm in limbo replacing my 2nd gen iTRIP to my 3rd gen.

i really need to hook up the iPOD by a wire... hard connection rules all... anyone have thoughts on that?
