Can't edit song info

The other week I had to reinstall Windows. Luckily a mate of mine let me use his harddrive to store my files whilst my PC was being reset.

Today I reinstalled Itunes and had to add all of my music back onto it but now when I go to edit the info of a song all of the fields (artist, song, etc.) are all greyed out.

What's going on?!

i seem to recall this being that the music files have had their properties changed to 'read only'. go to one of the song's native files in windows and right click on it and select properties. see if the 'read only' box is ticked ...

The files were "read only" I changed this, but I still can't edit them.

this is ####ing me off. :mad:
