Everytime I click it a pop up comes up saying "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close"

I click on the erro report and get this:

AppName: itunes.exe AppVer: 6.0.4.2 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 55540042

then I click on the technical information and get a whole bunch of technical stuff with a file at the bottom where it says "The following files will be included in this report:"

the file included is "69b8_appcompat.txt"

yet when i search for the file it never comes up. even a manual search.

I've reinstalled itunes countless times. Uninstalled. reinstalled previous versions of iTunes too. nothing. I've even gone back to a previous system restore. Nothing. iTunes NEVER works anymore.

anyone have any idea what is going on? what I should do?

I don' t know whether or not this will answer your question.

When we initially installed iTunes on my daughter's laptop, one of the program files wouldn't install, and as a result we couldn't us iTunes. When we did the uninstall/reinstall routine, we encountered the same problem. No one in the Apple organization could help, and neither could Dell. I finally wrote nastygrams to Apple, Microsoft, and Dell. I received a response from Dell. We ended up doing an uninstall/reinstall of Windows XP, and that solved the problem.

I would suggest contacting the folks at Apple first. If they can't help you, then try the manufacturer of your pc. If they can't help, you may want to consider contacting an independent organization, e.g., Lightfrog or Geeksquad. This is the roadmap that I followed.

Yes, exactly. It just stopped working out of nowhere. Still is not working. Someone has to have a viable solution(reinstalling windows is WAY to extreme, but thanks)

Yes exactly. I am not going to reformat or reinstall windows just because of apples ####ty software. Everything else works perfectly on my pc....
