Hey,
So I decided to buy the Cx300 from J&R came out to around 65 shipped. However, when i run with them there is like a static-y sound coming from the cables moving around. Do all earphone do this? Am i not where them correctly? or are they defective?? Sorry if this seems stupid but this is my first pair of real headphones (i used to use the ipod ones and i got sick of them)..
TIA

I haven't encountered cable noise at all on the CX300, though the aerodynamics of the earbud can give a swooshing wind noise in the ear, sometimes, outdoors, in windy conditions, running in a particular direction relative to the wind.
Is the noise you're hearing in both earbuds, or just one? If it's just one, it's probably a fault.
Can you replicate the 'static' by rubbing the lower part of the cable against your clothes, or is it caused by movement of the wires closer to the earbuds themselves? If it's the latter, then you have a loose connection and should return the buds.

I can confirm that my CX300's also suffer from loud cable noise.
Found that putting the cable into your clothing just before they reach your head can help a bit.

How very odd. I wonder what the difference is?
Are you using a Video iPod (I'm not)?

Strange, I have lots of cable movement and friction with my CX300 cable but I haven't encountered any unwanted noise besides the occasional wind when it's really strong.

I've read some reviews where the CX300s make cable noise. I'm getting some this week or the next one so I'll get back to you on whether I experience problems.

Are these any good compared to say Shure E2C? (I know that these are more expensive). Have not used canal phones before but need some as traveling by plane once a month and need some sound insulation. Thanks.

I have no use with CX 300s but from the description it sounds like a common case of mircophonics. This happens depending on the material , thickness or other design of the cable wires when they rub together. Mainly a problem of I.E.M.s , this friction noise is then amplified becuase of the seal in the ear canal and pressure. Not alot you can do about it.

It seems like the quality control of the CX300s are really not that up to par. there has been a few problems about them.

Yeah, I ended up returning my pair. Don't get me wrong the sound is amazing for the price, but for 70 bucks, the build of the headphone was not up to par. They seemed very flimsy and the wires were very thin and I felt that the minute they got caught on something they woudl rip, the wires also didnt seem to be very securely attached the to ear piece ...

The wires are thin, sure, but they seem exceptionally well anchored to me, without the weak Y join that the EX71 has, for example.
The quality control may be an issue - but mine are absolutely fine - top notch and far from flimsy.
And I'm not getting microphonics, even when I rub the cable with my fingers.
As to comparisons with the Shure E2, they (the CX300s) sound better to me (I have both) and are far more comfortable, but if I had the cash to splash on E2s I'd go for the Panasonic HJE70 (if I were a bass head) or the Audio Technica ATH CK7.

I am getting microphonics with my CX300 whenever I touch the cable, but it's not a major problem. If I secure the cable under my jacket I don't get much noise when I'm walking. I also think the build quality is very good, the earpieces are small and plastic, but they seem solidly made to me.

Maybe we're getting a different build standard here in the UK? Though Yrellag is in the UK, too, I eveileb
