So, i just reformatted my HD. Well, i put all my music onto my ipod before doing so, i didnt want to lose my collection. Um, i've tried several programs to try and get my songs off of the ipod, but none seem to be working. I recently tried iPod agent and i got this error which stopped me from getting anymore songs...
Artist:Pink Floyd
Album:Echoes (Disc 1)
Title:01 - Astronomy Domine
Source:E:\iPod_Control\Music\F10\KCSB.mp3
Destination:C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.SCENE-XPSP2\My Documents\My Music\Pink Floyd\Echoes (Disc 1)\Pink Floyd - 01 - Astronomy Domine.mp3
Error:The parameter is incorrect.
Im on windows XP. If anyone knows of a concrete way to get my music off of my ipod, i would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you,
Griffun.

Well, it seems to be working (so far). Im on song 50 of 3500+.
I used iPod Access before though, and it got me around 2000 of my songs back, i hope this can give me all of them :-X
Thanks for the help.

Hi. This seems like a good thread to post my question.
My hard drive has recently burned out and I am buying a new PC tomorrow (Windows). However, my 16GB of music was not backed up and I only have it on my iPod.
How can I get all of my music back onto my new PC and into a new version of iTunes?
Some questions:
1. Will my iPod be wiped when I plug it into the new PC for the first time?
2. Would you advise downloading iTunes BEFORE inserting iPod?
3. Is it possible to restore play counts and ratings and playlists?
Please help.

When your new HD comes and you get the OS installed make sure it doesn't have iTunes installed. Get sharepod and then transfer all the contents from the iPod to the HD. Then install iTunes and transfer all the contents into it. Make sure it's not on autosync so the files stay the same. Good Luck.

But surely when I plug the iPod into the PC for the first time, it will wipe the contents of my iPod?
Or is this only the case if iTunes is already installed? For example, if iTunes is not installed, does the iPod just act as a portable hard drive?
Whatever happens, I do not want my 15GB of music being wiped!

sharepod is awesome! easy to use.
i have a problem w/my computer (only)!. when i try to access my ipod from sharepod is says "run time error - CMDLG32.OCX - is missing" or something along those lines. Now i've noticed i can download that file from the sharepod site (awesome). but i dont know where or how to put that file into use so i can use sharepod on my computer.
sharepod works on other ppls computers, but mine.
cheers

I put it on my iPod root folder and it seemed to work, except I'm getting a Windows delayed write error message (or something to that effect... I can't tell literally, since my OS is in Spanish) and so far *nothing* has worked to get my tunes from my iPod.
I'm going bonkers here.

Yeah... This is the error message I get from SharePod:
There was a problem writing to file C:/My Documents/(song name).mp3 (Invalid procedure call or argument).

Change the the output(where sharepod copies the files to) to some where different like the desktop and see what that does. If that doesn't work maybe that mp3 file is corupt or something?

I just tried on the old desktop and I get the same error message...
Do you think that means my *entire* library is corrupt? If I have most of the songs on CDs, am I better off formatting the iPod??
What a nightmare this has turned into x_X

ok... don't panic. So the song play when your listening to the iPod not connected to a computer right?
I don't think it's that drastic but something is obviously not working right and it's either the iPod or the Computer.
If you can please do a defrag, reg clean, and virus scan. I know it takes a while for those but things might work better after that.

No, it didn't. I've been in iPod hell for more than 18 straight hours, and I have no clue where to turn for help anymore. I already restored my iPod and I keep getting error messages. I tried the chat, I've gotten no reply in my thread at this forum.... I submitted my problem as a question to Ask iLounge to see if I can get any help, but so far, all I have is an undying urge to smack someone with my iPod and then sue.
But thanks for asking :P
