Is there any general consensus on which of these is better. Obviously the iSkin has more color choices, but other than that, what is the difference?

The iSkin has multiple holes in the back (supposedly for better cooling/heat exchange). Otherwise they're the same.

Before I had my own iPod, I tried a buddies which I think had a Groove Jacket. It seemed easier to take the iPod in and out of his Groove Jacket than my iSkin -- is that correct?

The iSkin also has a small lip (or overhang) at the top, which serves to prevent the iPod from slipping out. And the Groove Jacket only really fits the 5gb iPod and 1st Gen 10gb - it's too big for the 2nd Gen 10gb, and too small for the 20gb.

Hey everyone,
As an owner of both the Groove Jacket and the iSkin I can say that the iSkin, hands down, is a MUCH better case than the Groove Jacket (blue silicon). I have a 20 gig model.
Here are the main reasons:
1) Really snug fit.
2) The hole for the scroll wheel is perfect. (Groove Jacket was not big enough)
3) Better feeling material (and it has little nubs on the back for skid resistance)
4) Vents in the back for heat dissipation
5) Overlapping top fully protects the upper metal.
6) More vibrant color.
7) OUTSTANDING customer service.
I originally bought the GJ from Compusa afte MUCH deliberation on other covers (Belkin leather, Belkin Clear, others). I liked it but I really wanted to try out an iSkin. I ordered a Tangerine iSkin and I recieved it 3 days after I ordered it. (I live in VA and they are based in Toronto). I will say then when I opened the package I was slightly disappointed. The color was more of a "peach" than orange. I went ahead and tried it on my iPod wa impressed by how well it fit. Like I said - it was perfect.
The next day I sent iSkin an email telling them how I felt about the color and that I wanted to exchange it for a Blue MIst color. They responded in less than 20 minutes and were very accomodating. They sent out a return mailer which I received about 3 days later. I shipped the orange iSkin back to them and got my replacement Blue Mist 7 days later. The Blue Mist is a gorgeous color and, again, it fit perfectly. They even sent me an email to ask if I was happy with the replacement.
I highly reccomend iSkn. Awesome product and awesome customer service.

I have an iSkin (glo worm) for my 20gb iPod. The GJ just didn't seem like a good product to me (jhmo). I like the iSkin because of the little feet and ventilation holes on the back. They have great colors and are quick to deliver. I'm in CA and I got mine in a couple days after I ordered it.

I like my iSkin a lot too. However, every time I look at it I shake my head because I actually paid $30 for it. I can't believe we all pay that much for a piece of rubber that probably cost a nickle to make. Good product but sheesh! :)

I have a groove jacket and really like it. I own a 20Gb iPod and it fits perfectly, there is NO WAY the iPod can just 'slip out'. My scrollwheel and buttons are easily accessible. It works great!
I like how plain and elegant the GJ is. There are no huge logos or wrist strap hooks or crazy colors. It simply showcases the iPod and doesn't distract from it.
My vote is for the groove jacket!

I am the same way about things but try thinking from a differnt perspective, it helps me. Think about this, How much could you make just one case for your self? You'd need material, molding, time invested for fitment/engineering and manufacturing. youd be up over $30 thats for sure. Its like the old stamp debate. would you deliver someone else's letter from florida to alaska for 37 cents?:)
what about the iSee - isn't it a far superior case?

I have an indigo iskin for my older model 10gig and I love it. It does collect a bit of dust/lint.. but it's not that bad, just clean it. I think it looks great.

IMO I prefer the Groove Jacket because of the feel (material) and the look. Much more aesthetically pleasing IMHO.

I know that this thread is Groove jacket Vs iskin but what about the DLO jam jacket made by the same people as the groove jacket.
To Me it looks a lot nicer than the iskin and the groove jacket but whats the difference between the groove jacket and the jam jacket?
Plus the iskin is spoiled by the rasied bits and grooves, like someone else said it ruins the lines and is less aesthetically pleasing.

I think the groove jackets are for 1st and 2nd gen. ipods, whereas the jam jacket is a new design just for the 3rd gen. ones. I'm currently trying to decide between a jam jacket, one of those speck ones, or waiting for the new iskins to come out.

Whoops, sorry. I was wrong. I'm not sure what the difference is.

For those of you who care... Groove Jackets are made of latex while iSkins are not... some people are allergic & that makes a huge difference.
Though I also wonder... latex breaks down & becomes discoloured when in contact with oils (including those from skin) & sunlight, just wondering about the colour-fastness & material quality of Groove Jackets over time. Anyone care to comment?

I picked up an iSee while in NYC about 3 weeks ago. I like it MUCH better than the GJ and it shows off the iPod beautifully. As for the headphone case, it just slides off the bottom. I don't normally leave it on there.
If you want Pics let me know and I'll post some...

I've had my GJ since I first saw one (about a year and a half ago maybe?) and the color is still the same as the brand new ones. Until I bought my iSee a few weeks ago, the GJ was in constant use.
