I've been ripped off

####. I knew it. Ok, here's the story. about two weeks ago a newcomer by the name of musicalamity posted a 20 gig 2nd gen ipod for $185 here (http://ipodlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13961) . I shoulda been more suspicious but my desire for an ipod outweighed it all...

We wrapped it up by Wednesday and I sent him the money. Since then I haven't heard a word from him. It's been 10 days now, and paypal is doing their investigation of my complaint. He still hasn't replied to anything. So, I did some more digging on the background of this guy.

His name is Bill Whitman, from Paramus, NJ (purportedly) and his ebay feedback is WillyGoody. But there's more.

One day, while strolling through a head-fi.com forum, I ran across this

It's pretty bad when feedback on a trader is posted as sticky. Apparently he's a chronic con-man. Here are the profiles

This guys is really giving it to everybody w/o lub. Is there any legal action that can be taken against this guy? I mean, like kicking his ### or something.

It looks almost like someone took over his screen name or something. His feedback at head-fi was excellent and he was a very active member on the boards but its all changed. Weird.

I do know from the head-fi boards that he has had some tough times recently. Maybe he just snapped.

Hopefully, he'll get his act together and at least try to make some ammends to those he's screwed recently.

or maybe he won't get the chance and you'll see his dead body in a river floating on the 7 o'clock news. Well...maybe not but if he ripped me off you definietely would.

Unfortunately that is not the case (stolen screen name) as we were all pretty surprised over at Head-Fi. (I'm a moderator/member over there). I've meet Bill personally on many occasion, and am at a complete loss as to his motivation here. I've conducted quite a few deals with him over the past year and have posted in his feedback thread. He's come to meets we've hosted and meet personally with quite a few of the Head-Fi members when buy/selling/trading. I don't know what went wrong, but I'll help you guys if I can. I've laid out the options in one of the Head-Fi threads, if anyone needs assistance seeking action, please feel free to contact me via PM or email. I'll help if I can. I know this is a bad situation (I've been there, scammed on eBay, by a 300+ positive feedback seller no less...) so I'll do what I can to help. Thanks and kind regards,

you might want to edit some of WilliamGoody's profile. While I was having my suspicions on whether or not I was ripped off, I delayed action because I had run across his profile on head-fi.org and on an initial view saw that he had 1000+ posts as well as a thread praising his integrity.... if I hadn't delayed so long I might've been able to get more money back, you might want to delete those, just a suggestion
