I have the same unfortunate situation. And why I came to the beautiful iPod lounge to find an answer. Here is my theroy: When I purchased my10g Ipod the box stated that OSX was required. I didn't have OSX installed and hoped it would work in OS9. Well, I got home plugged her in and she worked in OS9 filled up with 850 songs, nice. Well then I got all excited about iDVD which only works in X. So I took the plunge and put X on my 2nd drive. One day I restarted in X with Mr. iPod connected (here's where it get's good and bad) and asks me if I want to update iPod I say no, it's connected to another library or so I thought. Couple of days later I need to update Mr. iPod in OS9, no dice. It shows up in iTunes and I try selecting update iPod again, no dice. Trashed prefrences the usual things. Still nada. So I call apple. Tell him the whole enchilda and he says Mr. iPod works in X only. But... But...it worked in OS9, he says apple does not warrant iPod in OS9. Conclusion: Once i Mr. iPod connects in OSX it will not work in OS9 again. So I'm gonna try a iPod system restore in 2.0. oops you have to be in OSX to use the 2.0 software. I'm outta ideas any help with this would be great,
