Alpine CDA-9856

I just had a Alpine CDA-9856 radio using the KCE-422i connection cable. Problem is when I go to search the artist and then pick the artist (lower in the alphabet) the radio searches and then gives me the error -01 code. Ipod is locked up and must be unplugged.

Question? is this normal? is it the ipod or do I have something else going on with this?
I bought this to make it a bit easier to play an ipod in my car, but I'm getting a bit frustrated with the constant unplugging.

Any tid bits on this problem would be appreciated.

That happened to me a few times, and I found that it had something to do with the video that I had downloaded to my 5G. Once I made a bunch of playlists that excluded all the video files, the problem went away. I don't know if my problem matches yours, but that's what worked for me.
