I have just purchased a DF-HON dual auxillary interface from Circuit City and had them install it. Everything is working okay except that the volume level is too low. Also they installed the unit high up under the dash making it hard to service. My car is a Honda Civic LX 2002 with the factory radio. My iPod is the 20 GB 4G. I am connecting to the headphone jack with a cable to terminates into a pair of RCA plugs. I have to turn the volume up nearly all the way on the iPod and increase it on the radio to get decent volume.
I feel like complaining to Circuit City for installing the interface so far out of reach, especially when there was a long interface cable going to the radio. It does not make sense. I doubt I will be able to get them to reinstall the interface in a more accessible location.
Does anyone have any ideas about the low volume. If I used the line out from the dock connector, it would have been even lower.

From my experiences, to achieve line out levels from your headphone jack of your iPod, you need to turn the volume just about to 100% This is normal. If you still need to turn the volume on the headunit significantly up, even when the iPod headphone jack is at 100% volume, then you might want to double check your AUX-IN unit.

Try the Belkin Auto Kit with a built in amplifier. It makes a very big difference.

Just out of curiosity, how much did Circuit City charge you to install? I installed a DF-HON today - took about 1 hour. I haven't mounted mine yet - its easy to get to and tucked up under the console.

Mine, by the way, is also somewhat low. I keep the ipod on 100%, and I too am thinking about getting a belkin auto kit.
