I'm trying to figure out the best way to hookup my Ipod nano to my factory Honda car stereo.

I've looked at replacing car stereo with Ipod capable one but too expensive $120 plus.

I've looked at solutions to wire to factory stereo but they are $100 plus.

My biggest concern is quality and cost. I'm currently looking at FM transmitters and was thinking of Kensington one or this cheap $17

My friend also brought up an idea which seems pretty good to me. I hardly ever listen to the am/fm radio in the car. If I could unplug the antenna and hook ipod directly up to antenna wire seems like the signal would be pretty good. Has anyone done this?

I haven't done this with in ipod, but I've seen devices for xm to wire directly to your antenna. Its still a fm modulator, but hard wired. You can also plug your antenna into the device, so you don't lose your radio. Check out a retail store, (I hate to recomend any big box store, as I don't like the service of any of them). Custom shops are my favorite. Even if they don't have the parts that you're looking for, they will usually steer you in the right direction. You might spend a little more on this or that, but the service goes a long ways.

You could use an FM transmitter, and attach a wire to it's antenna... then run it out your window, or through the car.

Sounds like you may be looking for the Harmon Kardon Drive&Play.
I've got version1 and am eagerly anticipating the upcoming release of the v2.

It has a hard-wired FM option and sounds great.

There are also some in-line fm Transmitters that work via the headphone jack of the ipod. A little harder to find, but the one I had worked fantastic.
