So I've got a cassette adapter in my '95 Honda Civic and it really sounds pretty good, but every time I turn off the stereo or car, the cassette ejects. I'm sure many people have stereos that do this, and its a really annoying 'feature' when it comes to using a cassette adapter. What I'm wondering is, if anyone knows an easy way to fix this (I doubt it), and, failing an easy way, if anyone has tried doing it the hard way (ie physically disabling it).
Even if no one has done it, but you are interested, post here and watch this thread, as I'll probably attempt to figure it out either way. I've never taken apart a car radio, but I don't think it should be too hard.
My eventual goal is total (cheap) integration - I'll get the Belkin auto kit, which apparently auto-pauses for newer ipods (including the 2cnd gen mini, which I just scored from Apple refurbs). That way, I turn on the car, music plays, I turn off the car, music stops - don't have to do a think. As it stands now, I've got to dig out the mini, start the music, turn on the hold switch (as a precaution), and insert the cassette adapter. Pretty much a pain in the @** to do every time I get in the car, esp. when doing quick drives on errands or something. esp when its like -10 degrees out, then I have the extra step of taking off and putting on my gloves, and my fingers freeze. haaha. they shoulda designed the scroll wheel to work with wool. anyway, thats all.
Thanks,
william
