i have a click wheel going into an aftermarket headunit but its not one of oyur latest greatest units. no aux. no ipod or mp3 outputs or inputs.

what do you guys recommend as far as a cheap effective solution?
i dont have a crazy system setup. just an eclipse head unit and nice interior speakers.
thanks!

how much money do you want to spend???

i got the DLO Transpod, which is an FM transmitter/charger for all of the ipods. it works great, but it was about $100. i've used it in a few different cars now, and it works very well.

other then that, i still suggest some kind of FM transmitter, and there are cheaper ones out there.

ah, it gets a little trickyer then. if you can take your headunit out, somtimes there is a connection on the back that can be properly converted to accept an auxilery connection. but if not, your options get pretty limited.

other then that, for a hard install, your best bet may be selling that headunit and buying one that has an aux input.

If you don't have CD Changer controls or AUX-IN on your aftermarket headunit, there really isn't a way to hardwire it in unless you buy some new hardware. A new cheap headunit with AUX-IN will run you less than $50 at some online places.... keep in mind though, they are pretty bad quality when it comes to sound. A decent headunit with AUX-In will run you close to $100.

that $100 unit you mention php76, would be worth it imo. the dlo transpod transmitter cost me about $100, but a unit with aux would have much better quality.

Here is a sony one with front aux-in for $100. You can probably find better prices than Crutchfield, but their service is pretty darn good.

There are other brands and models out there too.
www.etronics.com is another place to look at, I've had good experiences with them.

Note, I'm not affiliated with Crutchfield or etronics in anyway, I just happen to have bought stuff from both places in the past and they came through.

isnt there a way to hook up the ipod to an fm channel via some modulator kind of how you would hook up a cd changer?

walmart sells it for 25 instore i think. you take the antenna and put it into the box then from this box to your headunit. when you turn it on it transmits directly to the radio over the antenna line. supposedly works very well...i just use an fm transmitter and unplugged my antenna
