When my friend got his, when his mother ordered it off of Apple.com she selected the engraving option and had his name put on it. I dunno. Personally, I think it's silly and a waste of money. It makes the value plumit. Why would you ever want to engrave an iPod anyways?

To prevent stealing of your iPod and people reselling it.
I had my iPod stolen in school, and I regret not having it engraved, as I could have found it if it was.

do you already own an iPod? If so, I think you can go to Apple and have them engrave it for a price

If you don't own one and want to buy one, you can buy it online, and then select free engraving.

The best way to get your pod engraved is to order it engraved from apple. If you didnt get it through apple (ie:Circut City, Best Buy, etc.) and you want them to engrave it you have to send it back (you pay shipping back) then they will chrage you a re stocking fee, then you have to order a new one tell them what you want engraved and you pay the shipping to get the new one. NOT THE BEST WAY TO GO.

Take it to a jewlery shop and ask them if will laser engrave it. You cant go to a place that stamp engraves as because the stamping prosses may mess up the internal parts of your pod.

I called apple and they told me to go to a jewlery shop.

There's a company mentioned by iLounge last fall? I tried to search for it but I couldn't find it (news or headlines). There's a company where you can send your iPod and engrave a company logo or whatever. I think it was ~$30-40 for the service though.

Hello, you can get new iPods and apple products engraved at Appeal Store - they are an authorized Apple dealer and just released a Bon Jovi engraved iPod. In the future you can upload your own artwork to their site for engraving.

Check it out at: Appeal Store can't post here com.
