i have a dj company on the side and do all of my shows digital. what I have been doing is creaing playlists in itunes to sync my "essential" tunes for this one bar show i do, then add a bunch of other ones. i then use vpod to copy this stuff to the hard drive of the laptop i use (which isn't the tune that hs all of my music on it). i have 6500 songs in the library and a 10 gig 1pod, so i can't just pull everything over. the process of pulling everything over to the hard drive of the laptop to run my software seems like an extra step so I am considering trying my ipod tonite as an external drive but I am wondering how much quicker i am going to lose battery life since the drive is going to constantly be spinning. my show is 4 hours tonite and I don't want to switch over to cd if I don't need to, which brings me to the crux of my question.
My pc card for my laptop is not a powered card, so I am not charging when the ipod is plugged in. I have an extra firewire cable, so I i run one cable from the power adapter that comes with the ipod, plug the other end into an open slot on my firewire card, and then plug the ipod in like i normally do, will this charge the ipod?
sorry for the ramble, thanks for the info
