I have had my 30gb IPOD for a couple months now, and have been using it on my windows XP. Had no problems until about a month or so ago. The ipod started playing some songs and part way through, would just go silent, but appear to still be playing. I decided to restore it and reload everything. When I did this, I could no longer load past about 6-7 songs (around 50mb). Took it to the apple store, and they concluded it was the firewire card. SO I bought a new firewire card. and another. and another. the last was a recommended card (i think adaptec maybe). Nothing fixed it. I had then read about this Latency BIOS thing, and although I cant seem to change my setting, I updated my BIOS. And magically that fixed it. No more problems. Then recently, I was adding more songs to it and again, the same problem resurfaced. I tried to reset the BIOS again but this time it didnt do the trick. Took it to the apple store again....they couldnt find anything wrong with it, other than the fact i hadn't downloaded the latest software. They though it might be a corrupt file. So I restored it and got the latest software and began to upload. Still the same problem. And after uploading multiple files from CDs I had ripped on to my computer, I concluded it has nothing to do with that. I'm about at wits end now. I'd like to return it for a new one, but I feel the problem is in my computer, if in fact I had fixed it somehow once before. Is there anything else I can do?
Norton Utilities says my computer is free of problems, disks (included ipod) are working fine - all is well on the outside. Please help!
