I just purchased Wire Tunes for my 2001 Sport Trac. I have the 60G Video iPod. Sounds great! Better than the $20 FM transmitter I had. The only down side was my factory CD player has no CD text ability. So I was set on dealing with CD 1-6 and Track1-99 listing and guessing what song was going to be next. UNTIL......leaving work one day I had the iPod paused and turned off in mid song, plugged it into the wire tunes, and pressed menu and had complete access (axxess?) to my ipod! Normal wire tunes will shut you out and you can only use the CD player to control your iPod but not anymore. BTW I got wire tunes on Ebay for $50 with shipping! I wonder if this works on other cars with wire tunes? Anyone else try this yet?

I have a wiretunes in my Honda, but haven't tried it with my Video. I have a 6GB Mini dedicated to my car. I'll try what you did.

Put up a pic of the wiretunes packaging - maybe a newer version, but I doubt it. If this was a known, supported feature you wouldn't have to do what you did to get to it.

If you used any of the stereo's controls (track selection etc.) what happened?

It was a 2004 copyright on the package. It was thrown out by my clean freak girlfriend. As for the stereo controls they all work like they are supposed too with the iPod.
