Hi..
i have seen reviews on this product and many has commented on the 3.5mm audio output having distorted noises..
im considering whether to get this product but have a few questions about it..

when the dock connector is attached to the ipod, is there also audio coming from the jack at the top(where headphones are attached), and from the jack provided by the charger?
because im thinking of using the headphone jack rather than the jack provided by the charger since i have seen many people complain about the lousy audio it produces..

anyone with the above product help me test it out? whether is there audio coming out from the headphone jack once the dock connector is attached and switched on? or is the audio all rerouted to the charger itself? or both have audio?

***YES. Both have audio***

because im thinking of using the headphone jack rather than the jack provided by the charger since i have seen many people complain about the lousy audio it produces..
***I Havent notice any issues with audio quality, aside from setting the volume control next to the jack properly, as if its cranked up to th max it can distort. I generally leave it set half way****

*** Another thing, when you disconnect the dock, the ipod pauses. Can be a pain as well as a plus. It, for me is the best set up. It keeps my ipod charged. Leads can be kept tidy, as all I have trailing is the dock connector. I have been using it for over a year on a daily basis, and would recommend it.****

Whooaa!!!! stop the press!
My previous comments go for when you are using a tape adaptor, as I was. I have just swapped out my car radio, and connected the autokit to the aux in, and i get noise and whine!!
I also tried connecting the headphone port of the ipod to the ipod, and still get noise and whine until i disconnect the autokit.
I am going to get a ground loop isolator, which i believe will cure this.
But I would still say this is down to my car, rather than the autokit.

Yep, ground loop isolator between the autokit and the aux-in cured the whine and noise problem, so im going to give it a good try-out for the next few days.

Has anyone had any problems with over charging and ruining your battery with the Belkin Auto Kit? Is that even a legit concern or mostly just a rumour?

Since my ipod is almost always plugged into it, it has crossed my mind. But I have also read that some people like to keep their ipods fully charged. (cant remember the exact logic to this, although i read it a while back when i got my 3g, so this may no longer be the case.)

The iPod automatically stops charging when the battery is full.

Any word on that ground loop isolator? I'm considering the Belkin Kit as well...

It does the trick. There is still a bit of noise that is down to the radio itself, but the isolator eliminates all the other noise I was getting.

Better or worse than the headphone jack?

Ever so slightly worse than the headphone jack, but I do think my car radio has a lot to answer for. I only really notice it when the engine is turned off (no exterior noise).
All in all. i'd rather use it as it is than go back to a cassette adaptor.
