Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. Ok im at a loss here.
I own a Vauxhall Vectra SRi 03 Plate (2003 model) and an iPod 5th Gen Video and so far i have tried the following FM transmitters:

Newer Tech In-Car FM Transmitter + Car Charger (uses dock connector)
Newer Tech FM Transmitter (uses Headphone jack)

The Fm Transmitters works most of the time but sometimes after 10-15minutes just cuts out totally and i dont get a signal.
Others times it isnt bad but the sound quality isnt that good.

The Fm transmitter with car charger however sounds alot better and the sound is more dynamic. But the problem with this is that after a couple of seconds of playing there is suddenly a very audible and rather annoying static which ruins the sound of the music. If i fast forward/rewind or just turn the volume up on the ipod it goes away and then returns after 5sec of normal operation. The static is very audible and consistant!

Anyone had any similar experiences?

Can anyone reccomend me a better tried and tested FM Transmitter solution for my car (or other solutions)?

PS. Im in the UK

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid your slogging a dead horse with the FM transmitter. It only seems to work away from built up areas. Tried it and trashed it.

Your Vectra has a great set of speakers but is let down by an underpowered stereo head unit.

Living in Denmark I have just ordered a new Vectra and decided not to have the factory fit stereo.

I will install an Alpine with an iPod interface (like I have currently in my Volvo) - feed the iPod connection cable under the centre tunnel and into the storage bin under the arm rest (I will have to make hole in the bottom/side of the bid to get the cable in).

You can then plug your iPod into the cable in the storage bin and all the iPod track information is displayed on the Alpine head unit.

From the head unit you can access almost everything. The newer headunits have quicker searching as they don't need the small interface box and connect direct via a cable from the back of the head unit
