Alright so here is my dilemma. I just purchased a used ipod 20gb from an individual on ebay last week. Now the guy who owned this has an awesome collection of tunes that he naturally left on the ipod when he sent it to me.

So here is my question. If I plug my ipod into the computer via usb, will I lose all of the files on the ipod?

After reading the manual, it sounds like when I plug it into my computer(using itunes) all the music will be deleted on the ipod since I dont have those files on itunes myself.

Also since I have never plugged the ipod into my computer before, itunes will not show an ipod in the source list.

Please help

what you need to do is to install itunes, then once it is installed you need to go to edit, then preferences(its at the bottom of the edit menu). click on manually manange itunes, you might have to plug in the ipod before doing this. if it starts to update the ipod after you plug it in, stop it. lol. if you want the songs on your computer, you can use a program called sharepod. look up sharpod on google. if some of the songs give a username and a password to open then they wont play because the origional owner bought them from itunes. i hope this helps

no, thats not what he said. once youve installed itunes, click on edit>preferences and click on manually manage ipod. then, and only then, will ur cpu not delete all the songs off the ipod.

i also reccommend u download sharepod. its way easier to simply transfer the songs onto the ipod using that prgrm
