hey there im trying to update my new ipod to 2.1 and for like 3 minutes now its said do not disconnect and the iPod updater software says to keep waiting.
is it supposed to take a long time?

the same thing happened to me....so i disconnected it....not the best decision but hey left it for like 15 min and it didnt do nething....after i disconnected it i reset it(switch hold on and off, then hold menu play) then it worked just fine and updated

It looks like a bug in the updater. I got a similar problem, the updater couldn't eject iPod after updating.

One last question.
Everytime I put my iPod on my dock, (I have windows xp home) i get a balloon that comes up saying USB device not recognized. Then I wait and iTunes comes up and tries to update the iPod and then the do not disconnect goes away. instead it just says OK to disconnect. I try hitting menu and all the buttons but that screen doesn't go away, I can't listent to it while it's charging.
Does anyone else have this problem?
EDIT: The only way I can listen to it is if I unplug the USB

That's a feature of the not-so-wonderful 2.1 version:mad:
