usb 1.0 works usb 2.0 doesnt

hi,

my ipod usb cable broke.
so i bought a new third party cable.
now my ipod is detected only on comps with usb1.0.
firewire connections also work fine.
but usb 2.0 connections dont work.
If i connect it to a comp with 2.0 socket then my ipod is not detected.
any idea what is happening

umm, that's a very strange cabe that you have. You should get the apple issue cables from Here (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?productLearnMore=M9569G/A).

I had the same issue with my external drive. I found that the allocated memory to the installed USB 2 was less than the original 1.1.

i bought a new cable and before buying i tested it with my ipod on a 2.0 connection an it was working fine.

i seems my previous cable was usb 1.0 rated and new cable is usb 2.0 rated.
