When I purchased my AppleCare (extended iPod warranty) in December it was priced at $99.99. That was very pricey however, I decided to get it because I am planning on having my iPod for more than one year and I have heard they scratch easily, it has battery issues so in the long run it was a wise buy. Today I went to Circuit and the Apple Store and it is only $59.99 a great price. If you are about to buy a new iPod I suggest you buy the care program too. It is a 2 year warranty on the phones (1 years and 9 months longer than original) and 2 year technical support (one extended year) This program is very easy to set up however, it is hard to switch over the program to a new iPod. That is currently what I am having issues with is switching the account to my iPod that I exchanged. The one which I had originally purchased and set up the plan on had a poor battery so I exchanged it for a new one and I am having issues transfering the plan over to the new one.

Sorry to burst you bubble, but the applecare has been priced at $59.99 for at least a year and a half. I know because ever since I have been working, which is a year and a half, applecare has been $59.99. So I'm not sure if the warranty wasn't applecare but perhaps a different warranty. But either way, applecare is worth it, but it's been at that pricepoint for a while.

it's useless in my country..
and the apple center is crap!!!..
just imagin..u go to the apple store to ask about replacing the battery, then..he will say: we don't change battery, buy a new iPod !!!!!
then he will say too..: i will order it from the internet and it'll cost 200$!!!!
so i won't even think of buying the AppleCare

if youre gonna get a warranty why dont you try circuitcity's warranty. If you get scratches or your ipod breaks, they give you a gift card with the amount you paid for the ipod. However, they only let you do this once. Im pretty sure that you wont break your ipod more than once...

By definition AppleCare isn't a great deal. They're selling it for a reason -- because they make a lot of money on it. You're much more likely to drop the thing and break it, which isn't covered. I think only about 10% of the people that buy AC use it; the other 90% is pure profit.

lol, I'm going to use it. I've had mine almost for a year now, and I'm going to buy it next month, so I get the full 2 year's warranty. At the apple store close to me, they can exchange it for another one right away, in store, but if I don't get the warranty, they have to ship me one. I guess I can live with a messed battery and one missing line of pixels for one more month...

thats awesome i thought you had 3 months to register the product or something. That is cool because then if your battery stops working then you buy the warranty and you can get your battery fixed and a new ipod!!!

I broke the iPod 4G five times in the first year. Finally i broke it another time and the 1 year warranty expired and i just had to buy an iPod video. The HD malfunctions alot. I actually fixed my 4G and gave it to someone. I opened up the 4G and suprisingly it worked, i guess i had to shock the HD alive. Im definately buying the apple care, i might even buy it tommorow.

No, you cannot. You can buy it within the 1yr standard warranty period.

If you buy AppleCare after you purchased your iPod[ex: bought AppleCare 2 weeks before your Limited warrenty ends]..it still only covers one year more then when your warrenty ends.
Another EX:
Bought your iPod January 2006..
Bought AppleCare December 2006
Your warrenty will now end January 2008, not December 2008.
