I have read over some of the posts and looked at the link the CNET. I'm still unsure if my idea will work. I have been told it would, but not sure. Could some one clarify my situation for the?

I have this headunit the Clarion RDX755Dz. This unit has cd changer capabilities, and two sets of RCA output jacks. I would like skip buying the cd changer cord for connecting the ipod to the cd changer outlet. Are there any benefits for connecting this way?? I'm using one of the RCA connections for an amp. The other RCA connection from the back of unit is free. I would like to connect my ipod to it if possible. I was thinking that I could buy the iPod car charger with line level audio output for iPod doc connector or similar to power the iPod. I would then pick up a RCA to mini cable and connect it to the line level audio output end of the adapter from above. Next, I was thinking I could link the RCA's from the RCA to mini to the extra RCA's that are coming out of my Clarion car stereo.

Will this idea work to power my iPod and be able to listen to it through my Clarion head unit?

I have the iPod nano 2GB.

I worked with idea above. My headyunit has 3 RCA's coming out of the back. I have the amp hooked up to one set (purple rca set) that runs through the sub. There are two more sets of RCA's, one is for the front speakers and one is for the rear speakers. I found this out by plugging the RCA to Mini into each and running the iPod. When I do this the sound only comes out of the front or back speakers, whichever it is hooked to.
I noticed when doing this that the sound is controlled by the iPod volume level. Same thing when hooking up to my home receiver. Sound is not very loud.
How can I get the iPod to play through all the speakers in the car including the sub and amp? Is it possible to control the sound level by the car stereo volume?

Would it make a difference if the ipod was powered out of the cigarette lights instead of off of the iPod battery?

I was told not to do this that it may cause damage to the headunit or iPod. Was told I need to find the CeNet to accomplish this.

DO NOT do this. There is good reason why the RCA jacks on the back of the clarion are labeled OUTPUT. You cannot and do not want to use them as INPUTS for your iPod. You're stuck with getting the cd changer adapter if you want to get RCA inputs.

Thanks for the reply. I heard that this was not good. I found the cd changer line for the headunit at one point and then didn't save the link. Having a hard time finding the CeNet changer line now.
