Hi, I ordered a 3rd gen and i was wondering if the firewire that comes with the P4P800 Deluxe ASUS motherboard will do the job for both transfering and charging. It is a VIA 6307. If not so i can buy a card before it gets here!!! I dont want any delays before using it!
Thanks

I know exactly how you feel - it's so frustrating to find that your new gadget needs some little doodad to make it work.

Why not buy a card, keep it in the packaging with the receipt, and take it back if the mobo turns out to work?

Exactly!!!

Well I might just do that tonight if no one tells me otherwise.

I've used the firewire port on my Asus P4PE board to charge and transfer, I know it's not the same board as yours but I believe that it is the same VIA 1394 chipset.

If not, I went to Logic Computers and picked up a no-name 4 port firewire card for only $30...it works with my iPod too!
