I already have a sh-tload of music in itunes just waiting to be put on my new 20g ipod. Now I'm totally confused as to what to do. I put in the CD and it started installing musicmatch and a bunch of other crap I don't want. I ended up doing a system restore to get rid of it. (It's easy in XP)

Do I not even use the CD at all? Can someone please give me the steps I need to acsomplish this?

Nup, I didn't use the CD at all.

If its all working fine and you can acess your hard drive, then tag your songs. Tag like you never tagged before. It will make things much simpler in the future.

Just get the 2.1 updater, and restore from there.

What do you mean by "tag your songs. Tag like I've never tagged before?"

MP3's contain metadata inside themselves, such as artist, title, album, track number, genre. The iPod reads these only, it doesn't read folders or filename (well not if you have ID3 tags). You can tag songs inside of iTunes. If you don't have iTunes yet, download it, it is essential for iPod transferring and it also tags songs.
