short earphone extension?

The extension on my sony phones (EX-71) just about hang to the ground with my Pod in my pants. I've searched around the web and all extensions are about the same length. Too long!

Is there a short 1-2 ft extension somewhere out on this planet? Is it possible to "mod" my current extension? I have the extra cord wound into a loop. That extra knot of cord bounces around even when walking...very annoying

When I first got my old Panasonics, I had the same problem. Visited radioshacks everywhere, looked up stuff online, and the closest thing I could find to a solution is getting an inline volume control extension...they're usually short, a few inches maybe. I didn't bother myself, but if you're really desperate, look it up at Radioshack.
