I just got the newest edition iPod 10Gb. I install itunes and all that but i try to do the conversion of mac to Fat32 but the updater wont find my ipod. I called Apple and they had me reformat the iPod through windows. Windows finds the iPod and sees it but the 2.1 updater cant find it. I have USB 2.0 and i tried everything apple told me but nothing happens. Now my ipod is on all the time and says ok to disconnect but and up top it says "Disk Mode" I have no clue what to do.

BackFireWarrior:
Once again, you're wrong about that. Please stop this garbage.

BackFireWarrior, either help or don't post anything.
As for the problem, is the ok to disconnect screen just when its plugged in? Because thats a feature. What message does the 2.1 updater give you?
Try a reset (hold play/menu till the logo comes up).

Hate to disagree with you, but I've been happly using an iPod on Windows for, oh, the last 19 months. Frankly, I wouldn't take an iRiver if you gave me the thing, and I'm wondering why your even here.

Lets not turn this into a MP3 player debate, I own one of each companies MP3 players, and where one shines, the other doesn't and visa versa, they are both good.
How about helping a person in need here?

Are you using Musicmatch or itunes?
I have the same Ipod (10gb 3G) and Windows XP with itunes and it works fine, but the original itunes manager that installed from the CD that came with my ipod did not see the pod either. I reset the ipod and then installed 2.1 updater. Then rebooted the PC and connected the ipod and then it automatically found the ipod and updated the firmware. Now itunes sees it fine and I have had not problems. Of course I am using firewire.
You might want to get a firewire card anyway. They are cheap (30$) and then the ipod will charge when connected.
Hope this helps.

Well see thats the problem I install 2.1 and the newest iTunes. But there is no manager option from the start menu when the Apple Customer service heard he just said "Thats not good". I let my iPod drain the battery now it just flashes the Apple signg and the folder with the "!". I havent tried to hook it ip to my PC today but all it gave me last night was when i would run the updater it would say"Unable to Mount iPod", and my iPod was in Disk Mode from formatting it. Oh yeah and to the above it says do not disconnect, see my computer sees it as a removable drive, and my device manager sees it as iPod but the updater wont see it.
