I am organizing my itunes library right now, and i look at the iTunes music stores for the genres, but they dont seem all that accurate to me. Any other places i can look for them? thanks :)

allmusic.com will typically list a main genre as well as a few sub-genres. Also it will list different "moods" for a particular artist or band.

Thanks anypants, anyone else? Im looking for something that will be very specific with the genres like 'Alternative & Punk', 'Pop/Rock', 'Classic rock'. Instead of like itunes does it, 'Rock', 'Pop', 'Altenative'.

You should really set genres according to your own listening habits. If you don't distinguish between classic rock and plain rock, then having the different genres is just a pain.

How exactly is everyone organizing their itunes libraries (as in filing the actual files)? Do you let iTunes organize it for you or organize it by genre folders.
I've been setting it up by Genre folders for years (Rock, Classical, Classic Rock, Soundtracks etc) but now my library is getting so huge then specific genre folders are out of control.

www .last.fm gives you a diversified view upon the genres connected with almost all groups.
If I don't think the current genre suits a certain album, I first try to genre tag them according to my own oppinion, but sometimes I do not know the music well enough, or I need inspiration, and thats when i click www .last.fm.

Try Rhapsody. The are seriously on point when it comes to genres. They use sub genres. I defaintly prefer them.

Yeah, I use Rhapsody's genres as well. Sometimes they are a little off, but most of the time they are spot-on. They're very specific.. I have mainly rock music in my library (All types. Indie, expirimental, punk, grunge, hard rock, adult alternative, etc etc).. and I have 63 different genres by Rhapsody's standards ;)
I used AllMusic for a while.. but I just couldn't stand labling the one Backstreet Boys song I had as rock. (No, I'm not a Backstreet Boys person. I downloaded that song to play a joke on a friend... ;) )
