Tomorrow I am headed out to get a new case for sure, and possibly an FM transmitter. I had an iTrip, but that doesn't work w/ my new 5G 60gig black ipod. I really want the DLO Transpod or the DLo thing that feeds directly into your car stereo via ciggarette lighter(it's cheaper, and it sounds like it would work etter).
MY PROBLEM: I need a case, but I don't think my iPod will fit in the transpod w/ a case.
I either want the Toughskin or Agent18 case. Can you guys recommend a good transmitter and good case? (If the ones I'm thinking about are no good).
Thanks.

If you only plan on using the FM transmitter in your car, use the iTrip Auto. It should work with most, if not all cases. It's priced at $69.99, but can be found for quite a bit cheaper (around $39.99) at Buy.com, MacMall or eBay. Just use Pricegrabber to find it at the cheapest store.
Hope this helps.

I took a look at the iTrip Auto at Pricegrabber, found it for $37 an Buy.com. I will probably get it, but I wanted a little feedback first.
- Is Buy.com reliable?
- Does the iTrip Auto work/have any weaknesses
- Will it work with the Agent18 or the Toughskin?
- Which of those two cases are better?
- How long does it take to ship?
Thanks a lot.

Is Buy.com reliable?
Yes, I have heard it is.
Does the iTrip Auto work/have any weaknesses
I don't know, I've never used one. Like all FM transmitters, though, the sound isn't perfect.
Will it work with the Agent18 or the Toughskin?
It should.
Which of those two cases are better?
I really don't know. The CoreCase (http://www.corecases.com/home.php) is a really good case though. I'm selling one if you're interested. PM me.
How long does it take to ship?
I've never used Buy.com myself, maybe someone else can answer this question.

dansgil,
Those core cases look pretty good. Do they protect the screen? (That's my main concern) and what size of iPod is your case made for, 30GB or 60GB? And why are you selling it?

Yes, the CoreCases protect the screen. There's a hard plastic screen protector built in. I'm selling the black one for the 30gb 5G. The reason I'm selling it is because I bought two. I was going to give it as a gift for a friend who got an iPod, but he got the 60gb, so the case won't fit.
PM me for more information.

I have a 60GB 5G ipod, so I guess I can't buy your's if it's not going to fit, sorry. But the case looks pretty nice, a lot sleeker than the toughskin and Aget18 cases. I do a pricegrabber search to see if I can get cheaper price.
Also, did you buy your's online, or in a store (if so, which store)?

I bought mine online. Directly from CoreCases. I don't think they're sold anywhere else yet.

A good, cheap FM transmitter is the Schoshe FM Transmitter (found at Walmart in the Auto section). It is only $18 dollars, and works as good as any I have found. The downside is that it has to be plugged into the cigarette lighter and connects through the headphone jack. There is a charger version, but that one is crap, so don't purchase it.
As for cases, I have a Rhinoskin for my 5G. It comes all in one piece, with an aluminum back and a clear front. It comes with a belt clip and a strap. The back is completely covered. The front is all covered except the click wheel. The aluminum wraps around the bottom leaving in the dock port exposed, allowing you to block in a dock connector. The top is completely open, which allows the iPod to slid in. There is rubber along the sides, which protects the iPod as it moves in.
I have used the Rhinoskin for two months now, and I really like it. I take it out of the case to put it in my iHome every night, and its easy to slid out. I have found some minor scratch on the iPod along the edges (in paticular the bottom), but nothing major. The case itself has gotten scratched on the aluminum parts, but the plastic has remained clear. And this is after being placed in my pocket (often with my keys or my cell phone). Amazon sells it for $25.

Indeed the best and cheapest FM transmitter to get is the Schoshe FM Transmitter. Just get the one that plugs into the headphone socket...
I had a xtrememac airplay2 purchased beofre I heaard about the Schoshe one, but it does work pretty well, no fault to it.
I got a Core Case and modified it at the bottom to allow the airplay2 to fit with the case on...

I bought the Kensington FM transmitter/charger from buy.com for my 5g 60 gb iPOD. They had the cheapest price and it only took about 2 days for their standard (free) shipping.
