I was throwing out an old handsfree kit from a phone, and removed the alligator clip eg

and attached it to my earphones.[list=1]
Clip a too-long cord just below your collar and it nearly eliminates cord noise while walking
Gather the cord and clip excess somewhere out of the way when doing things that might catch the cord (like using a rowing machine)
When you wrap the cord around your pod, use the clip to keep it in place.
