I just dropped $100 on these "top of the line" SURE E2C earbuds and am very dissapointed.

Am I doing something wrong? They are extremely isolating (I can't even hear the phone ring at my desk at work) .. but the bass and the clarity appear to be less than that of the Ipod Earbuds that came with the unit. I seem to get more bass if I jam them in deep and hold them there. I think I am also hearing slight distortion even at low levels.

Anyone have any suggestions for improving this? I have tried
all of the tips, and seem to get the best reponse from the black rubber tips.

I don' have the E2C I have the E3C , but I would suggest you try putting them in the "wrong" way where you know they are not sealing correclty , it should sound like your listening through a tin can. If this is the case then then your regular fit should be good. When you say you cant hear the phone on your desk , do you mean without the music playing ? I have found the Shure's I have dont have the "boomy" (my word for it) that others like , its more punchy and tight which is my preference. It could be the sound of them just isnt right for your tastes. It happens.

Im afraid you’re a victim of the overhype about the e2c, I had a pair for about two months a quickly realised that the bass response is absolutely rubbish, its got nothing to do with the fit (especially if you’ve followed the instructions properly) its just they don’t deliver in the bass department. Always view other peoples reviews with a little scepticism in future and read as many reviews from different sources before splashing out your dosh, I returning my E2c and bought the super.fi 5eb earphones which are vastly superior, albeit more expensive. If your on a budget just stick with the sony ex71’s for the money they fab in the bass department

I had about 4 pairs of e2c's (problems with cord) and the bass was good.

I used to listen to hip hop and drum & bass, I dont know how you can compare them to stock headphones?

I suggest making sure you are inserting them correctly, it should feel like you are under water or have a finger jammed in your ear.

They are not comforatble and not practical (for me the thick wire behind the ear was a pain). But they do produce decent sound if positioned correctly although they soon move position and or hurt like hell.

panasonic HJE70's are apparently the way forward.
